About the Alumni Association

Since its inception in 1953, the Sydney University Arts Association (SUAA) has continued to provide a link to the University for graduates interested in fostering the study of the liberal arts and humanities and a link between graduates, current students, staff of the Faculty and the community at large.

The annual membership fee is $33 (including GST), while life membership costs $275 (including GST). Associate membership is also available at no cost to current undergraduate and postgraduate students. A membership form is available on this website.

The Association has traditionally organised, in collaboration with the relevant Departments, the inaugural lectures of professors as they are appointed. It also programmes other events of a social or cultural nature, and has publishes since 1958 an annual journal, Arts, containing the texts of most of the lectures given as well as scholarly articles of broad interest.

The Arts Association wishes to strengthen its connections with all sections of the Faculty, particularly in the area of alumni affairs. Members of the Committee will be glad to hear from discipline areas and individuals interested in cooperating with the Association.

In alternate years, since 1967 we have offered the SUAA Prize for English III and History III on the recommendation of the Departments.
